Worried, Steve?
The phone rang this evening. Caller ID said "Private Caller", but I answered it anyway because it says that whenever a friend of mine calls from the States. Except it wasn't my friend, it was a call on behalf of Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada, looking for Mr. Dr. Prole (the registered voter in the household). "He's not available, but I'd be happy to speak with you," I said.
"Oh, great! Ok your name is Dr. Prole, same last name? Dr. Prole, are you a supporter of the Conservative Party?" says the nice lady.
"No."
"Oookay then, thank you! Buh-bye!"
I wonder if the Onion Ring is starting to get under Steve's skin.

not even trying
Looks like they subcontracted out the work of "reaching out".
When you said "No" Doctor a normal phone trained person should ask permission to tell you a reason that might change your mind, or ask why and start keeping a list.
Doesn't like the economy they produced 50%
Doesn't like leader XX%
Doesn't like the secret approach to success 75%
etc...
Mocking them is a final line of defence. They used it on those gas station ads and pooping on any alternative to themselves. It would be poetic justice for the Onion ring to win.
Funny you should mention that.
About 2 years ago or so, can't remember when exactly, they called the house asking for the Mister. Same thing, he's not available but I'll talk to ya! So that time she did ask why I wasn't a supporter. I told her it was because Harper and the Conservative party supported an American-style neoconservative agenda in partnership with the US think tanks and the religious right.
"Oookay, thank you! Buh-bye!"
I hung up and me and the Mister laughed our asses off for a bit. I was actually surprised that they called back after that.
